Bork bork bork!

Swedish Chef Mask

It's time to play the music, it's time to light the lights...

As a child of the 80’s, I was a huge fan of the Muppet Show. It was one of those programs that I can look back on now, and appreciate on a whole other level; but back then, it was all about Pigs In Space, Dr Teeth and the Electric Mayhem, and of course, the Swedish Chef. I got a book – really, more of a coffee table book, back when that was a thing – about the show as a child, and it’s still one of my prized possessions.

When it came time to paint my own mask, I knew I wanted to do something personal, but unusual, and really, you can’t get much more unusual than the Swedish Chef.

Again, I don’t play at a high level, so a little levity and fun fits my style of play pretty well. But I also have Statler and Waldorf on the back plate, just in case I get a little too soft and need some hard words of mockery – I mean encouragement!

Originally planned for my old BAuer 940, this design was painted on a Coveted Two-Piece mask, and I have to say that I’m very sad to see that particular mask maker disappear. I had long coveted (pun fully intended) one of their masks, and I’m glad I pulled the trigger on an order when I did. I hear they may be coming back in a new form as Apex, but time will tell on that front.
