Moomin Winter Mask
"The world is full of great and wonderful things for those who are ready for them"
-Moominpapa, from "Moominpapa At Sea"
When I first talked to the customer about this mask, I had no idea what a Moomin was. Now, after spending time with them, I absolutely adore them.
Moomins were the creation of Tove Jansson, an incredible Finnish artist who brought these delightful hippoesque creatures, and the world around them, to life in the 1930s and 40s. Full of life and personality, these characters have endured and become beloved stories for generations of children and their families.
Of course, Moomintrolls tend to hibernate in the winter, but for this design, I gently woke them up on a beautiful, cold morning to throw snowballs and play a little shinny on the pond near their home, while the northern lights danced overhead. Rest assured, once their fun was had, everyone curled back up to stay cozy and warm through the rest of the cold winter darkness.
